Esko Tirronen (b. 1934) is known for his massive female portraits that depict the details of a female body from close distance almost photographically exact. At the same time he is known as the protagonist of the abstract informalistic art trend in the 1960s. Tirronen enjoyed his breakthrough in 1960 when he attracted attention in the Exhibition of the Young and received his first State Art Award.
